Network Access
They are network infrastructures that allow users to access resources such as the internet, other networks or devices. They can be of different sizes and types and use a variety of technologies.
Types:
They can be divided into various categories according to their size and coverage area;
By Region:
Local Area Network (LAN): Networks that connect devices located in a building or a limited geographical area. They are widely used in places such as homes, offices, schools and hospitals.
Campus Area Network (CAN): Networks that connect multiple LANs located in a large area such as a campus or complex. They are commonly used in universities, business parks and government facilities.
Metropolitan Area Network (MAN): Networks covering a city or metropolitan area. They are used by internet service providers (ISPs) and telecommunications companies.
Wide Area Network (WAN): Networks that cover more than one city, country or continent. They are used in large networks such as the Internet, corporate networks, and international telecommunications networks.
By Technology:
Wired Access Networks: Networks that use cables such as Ethernet cables, fiber optic cables, or coaxial cables to connect devices.
Wireless Access Networks: These are networks that use radio waves to connect devices to each other. Wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular networks are widely used.
